How to transfer your PS4 data to the PS5 console

It has been a while since the PlayStation 5’s User Interface was teased during the reveal of PlayStation 5. It was just a few seconds of a tease, and then it transitioned into Astro’s Playroom – which is a pre-installed game that shows off the DualSense’s capabilities. That’s the last we saw of the User Interface. Then on October 12th, Burger King started a weird tease on Twitter. Shortly thereafter, Sony surprised the world with the official unveiling of the PlayStation 5’s User Interface, which Sony is dubbing the “User Experience.” PlayStation Support’s YouTube channel uploaded a series of videos about how to do certain things on PlayStation 5. Learn how you can transfer your data from PS4 to the new PS5 console…

Method #1: Prepare your PlayStation 4 Console for transfer to your PlayStation 5 Console. Have your PSN account be logged in on the original PS4 console, at the same time as your PS5 console. Connect your PS5 console so the same network as the PS4 console to transfer via wired connection or WiFi.

Note: You can play your PS5 games while the console is transferring data from PS4 to PS5.

Method #2: Insert your PS4 disc into the PlayStation 5 console. It will install automatically. You can also install your PS4 games using the extended storage device (USB Hard Drive, etc.)

Note: Installing via Disc requires the base PlayStation 5 console, the one with the disc drive on it. You will not be able to do this on the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition.

Method #3: If you’ve purchased PlayStation 4 games via the PlayStation Store, you can use your “Game Library” or the actual PlayStation Store (it will recognize that you purchased it via the store.) Simply log in the account you used on PS4, on the PlayStation 5 console.

Protip: Don’t forget to transfer your save data. Simply log in the account you used on PS4, on the PlayStation 5 console. If you were, or are a PlayStation Plus member, you’ve always been able to upload your save data to the cloud for future use. You can carry over your save data this way – on your PlayStation 5 console.

Note: You can transfer your save data using the PS4 to PS5 wired or WiFi data transfer.

You can also use a USB Drive to copy your PS4 save data, to download it onto your new PlayStation 5 console. You just need to make sure you’re using the same PSN account you used on your old PS4 console.

And that concludes the PlayStation 5 data transfer tutorial.
